  1. Satin

Satin has long been a popular material, ever since its creation in Italy in the 12th Century. However, this year more than ever it’s made a huge impact on the world of fashion – and it looks like that won’t change anytime soon.

Particularly popular for evening outfits (whether it be dresses, skirts, trousers or tops), it oozes luxury and opulence. The colours that are particularly popular at the moment are blues, pastels and vibrant reds. One designer that particularly focused on this trend was Staud at their SS20 catwalk show.

  1. Leather

Leather is another type of fabric that has been particularly popular in the world of fashion. But in 2020, it’s a fabric that’s simply everywhere. From Givenchy to Coach, so many designers are jumping on the wagon and creating fashion out of this extraordinary fabric.

Versatile and chic, you can create an effortless leather look no matter what the occasion! It’s also available in a range of colours, from the traditional brown and black to more fiery variations.

  1. Sequins

Don’t be fooled – sequins aren’t just for the 1970s. They are quickly becoming one of this year’s most popular fashion trends. Quirky and a statement piece, this fabric can be as simple or as extravagant as you want.

A trend that started to rise in popularity throughout the spring, two prominent designers in particular that showcased their love for it was duo Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida (amongst several others!).

  1. Crochet

Another popular fabric trend that took everyone by surprise this year was crochet. A lightweight and chic material, it was presented on several runways – including the likes of Fendi in Spring.

The beauty of this fabric is it can be seen on various clothing, from bags to tops and dresses. It’s also very workable, meaning you can either get a crochet kit or buy the material pre-made to craft your look out of!

  1. Denim

This year, denim is making a comeback – especially vintage looking denim. In particular, denim is growing in popularity in jumpsuits, cutoff jeans and dresses. A variety of designers have replicated this trend, from Chanel in their Spring runway show to Carolina Herrara.
